Water seems like a silly topic to dedicate an entire post to, but I have wanted to talk about it because it is honestly my NUMBER ONE health, beauty, and just life in general tip. No beauty product in the world, in my opinion, outweighs the benefits of drinking a ton of water. For as long as I can remember I’ve literally had a water bottle glued to my hand – in every meeting, in every coffee shop, with every outfit, sitting on the couch, you will find me with a water bottle in my hand. I literally order waters at the bar and wish every restaurant would just leave the water pitcher at my table. My friends (Kelly Rising) and boyfriend actually poke fun at me because “you’re probably dehydrated” is my answer to every life problem. My skin is the number one thing I get compliments on and I honestly believe the fact that I have ALWAYS drank more than enough water is the reason.
My best friend, Brooke Bolek, creator of Body By Brooke, is the same way. I’ve rarely seen her without her Yeti tumbler filled with ice-cold lemon and ginger infused water. This past week she left it at a store at the Biltmore mall and called me in a panic begging me to go pick it up, she’s THAT serious about it. This week we decided to put together a few reasons why you should drink more water, as well as a fun little PARTNER WORKOUT VIDEO!
The most obvious reason– you need water to survive! This is pretty much the only reason you need to put drinking more water high up on our priority list. If not, here are a few more.
It will enhance your mood. When you’re dehydrated it affects your mood, you get cranky and confused. Drinking plenty water can help you think more clearly and maintain a better mood.
It will help you lose weight. There are times when you might think you are hungry, when you are, in fact, dehydrated. When you ignore that thirsty feeling, your body reacts by sounding every alarm that it can to, “please send water!” For anyone trying to lose weight, staying hydrated is key. Hydration can be an appetite suppressant, can help prevent overeating, and optimizes your body’s ability to burn fat.
Prevent headaches. Headaches can be another sign that your body is dehydrated. If I ever get to this point, I know it’s bad news. I hate taking ibuprofen or Tylenol to nix headaches, so I immediately start chugging water and will dab some peppermint essential oils on my temples.
Water flushes out waste and bacteria. Your digestive system needs water to flush out waste. If you do not drink enough water, that waste collects in your body and can cause a plethora of problems.
Water = glowing skin. Since the skin is the largest organ, giving it enough water can improve the texture and color by helping build new cells properly.
So, now that you’re convinced you need to be drinking more water, you’re not allowed to use the excuse that “you’re too busy,” or “you always forget.” Glue a water bottle to your hand and get in the habit of refilling it as soon as it’s empty. Trust me, it will change your life.
